Hommage to Man Ray

Last May I needed to use up my darkroom supplies, as I would no longer have free/unlimited access to a dark room after college. So, I decided to experiment and make some rayographs to pay hommage to Man Ray. I did mostly black and white, but also experimented with color. Below are some scans of some of the black and white ones - I haven't had a chance to scan the color ones.

Brownie Hawkeye

I just recently acquired my mom's old Brownie Hawkeye camera and I wanted to experiment with it. It technically takes 620 roll film, but I used 120 roll film because that's what I had.

Perpetuity

My Photo Workshop project, Perpetuity, was on display in a group show of the whole class, called Objectophelia, from May 6-9, 2010. The pieces were 5"x7" (horizontal/vertical), inkjet prints mounted to gator foam. Originally taken on 35mm film.

The images in the project explore the nature of change and transition over varying lengths of time, through the use of images of natural phenomena.

Handwerker Senior Show

Hi to everyone out there in the blogosphere. I am Caylena Cahill and I am starting this blog to represent my photography and other creative efforts.

I am currently a senior at Ithaca College. I am double-majoring in Still Photography and French and minoring in Journalism.

My general photographic interests include macro photography, scientific and architectural documentary, commercial and fashion, and forensic. I also enjoy archival work and video editing. I have a passion for travel, so I also tend to accumulate many a tourist photo. Really, I snap images whenever something strikes my fancy.

In general I use a Canon XTI digital SLR with either the 18-55mm kit lens or my 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. I am proficient in shooting, processing and printing both black and white and color film of various formats. I know Photoshop and InDesign and generally work on a Mac.

If anyone who reads/looks at this blog knows anything about the particular species I happen to post, any information is valuable to me, so please feel free to comment.
